Bukchon Hanok Village

Walking to the village
The most important part of yesterday was meeting Maylee, of course. After getting some lunch and resting at our hotel for a bit, we decided to venture out again. We took the subway back to Insadong and then walked to the Bukchon Hanok Village to meet another family here to meet their little guy. Visiting this ancient village was the thing at the top of my sightseeing list, so I am so glad we made it there.

It is so beautiful and interesting to walk ancient streets and see the detail and art put right into the architecture. The boys loved seeing the tiny doors and finding hidden animals in the structures. We were surprised to see signs on the doors asking visitors to be quiet, as people actually live in these homes. The village is positioned high up on a hill, so the views were breathtaking. Seeing modern buildings in the distance, with the deep contrast of of the hanok spread out around us was amazing.

After meeting our new friends, we made our way back down the winding roads toward Insadong. We had plans to find a restaurant nearby, but we overestimated the boys' stamina. While walking down the streets, Liam began to ask to go back to the hotel and Nolan begged to be carried. We made the decision to head back to our hotel, with hopes of future dinner plans.

Once back in our warm hotel room, we were able to decompress a bit and really sort through our busy, amazing day. I think we are still overwhelmed with everything we have experienced and I know more processing is still to come.

Today, is Nolan's fifth birthday! We plan to spend it at Lotte World, which is similar to Disneyland, except much of it is indoors. Yay, for heat! Yesterday was all about our children meeting and getting to know one another. Today is all about our newest big brother. We can't wait to celebrate our big boy in such a special place, at such a special time.
